It's that time of the month again! Here's a new contemporary Brazilian short story fresh out of the oven. Today we have the pleasure of featuring the work of Ilka Canavarro, an author from Brazil who graduated in Languages and Literature and works at an advertising agency in Italy. We've selected "Cambyçara Building" because it shows the perfect blend of form and content. It is the moving story of Mr. Antunes, an old man who is forced to accept the constant changes in his beloved city, and lives in a building whose decaying structure merges with his own empty existence. It's a sad and realistic tale that depicts the romanticism of the past and the hard oppressing impact of progress. We hope you enjoy Ilka's work and feel free to comment on it. |
