Another 15 days went by and now it's time to bring you a new contemporary Brazilian short story once again. Today we have the pleasure to feature the work of Elisabeth Maranhão, who has been writing since she was about 10.

We've selected "Glass and Porcelain in the Garden" because it depicts a realistic dilemma faced by an upper middle-class woman in a large urban center. "I was angry, but stood still watching them like a hidden camera. I heard her moaning and turning her lips to his ears," the author writes, describing the pivotal moment that changes the character's life.

We hope you enjoy Elisabeth's work and feel free to comment on it.
