It's that time of the month again! Here's a new contemporary Brazilian short story fresh out of the oven. Today we have the pleasure of featuring the work of Thaïs Lips, a translator and interpreter from Brazil who lives in Denver, Colorado.

We've selected "Vargas is Dead" because, through the eyes of a child, it gives us a unique view into one of the most important moments in Brazilian history in the 20th century: The death of a controversial president.
